The FAE electromagnetic brake, is a cutting-edge solution to stop the movement quickly.

It operates with a voltage of 24 Vdc, where a coil creates a magnetic field to attract the armature and block the movement.

It is a current-operated positive brake, which is released when not energised by a spring-membrane.

This system consists of an inductor with friction material and a rotor with the armature. We offer three different constructions, adapted to various applications.

What is the FAE electromagnetic brake?

 

The FAE electromagnetic brake is a technological innovation designed for applications where it is required to stop the movement quickly and accurately. This device works by applying a 24 Vdc voltage, which activates a coil that creates a magnetic field capable of attracting the armature and, therefore, effectively stopping the movement.

Positive current operated brake

The FAE electromagnetic brake is what is known as a positive brake, which means that it is activated by the flow of electric current.

When a DC voltage is applied to the coil, a magnetic field is generated which attracts the brake coil holder, which has a friction lining, towards the armature, thus achieving effective locking.

Versatile operation

The versatility of FAE electromagnetic brake lies in its ability to release the brake effectively when it is not receiving current.

A spring-membrane built into the device retracts the armature in the absence of current, allowing the shaft to rotate freely. This makes it suitable for applications where both braking and precise release of movement are required.

Construction variations
